Zilla Brings Automotive Analytics to iPhone, Realtime Performance Data at a Fraction of the Cost of an In-Car Computer

(PRWEB) February 13, 2012

Zilla lets drivers track every aspect of their ride in style by using the iPhones GPS, accelerometer, compass and data connection to analyze the motion of their car, accurately plotting G-force, acceleration, braking and cornering forces across a series of stylish live graphs, dials and gauges.

Nathan Hamey, lead developer on Zilla says, We created Zilla because we loved the idea that it was possible to replicate the kinds of cool gadgets Japanese supercars have with an iPhone. We figured if a couple of fellow car enthusiasts downloaded it wed be pretty happy, but we massively underestimated how successful it would become and just how passionate people are about it. We even received a letter last week from a guy whod bought a dedicated iPhone 4S just to run Zilla on – its permanently hooked up through his headdeck. We were so stoked we added a new feature into this release just for him.

The code in this major release, Zilla 2.0, has essentially been stripped and re-built from the ground up to take full advantage of the capabilities of the iPhone 4S, offering improved accuracy, advanced customization and paves the way for a forthcoming feature to let users log, playback and export data on their runs.

Weve also had great feedback from users who wanted the ability to further customize Zilla, so we have added downloadable color schemes and other controls for users to match the appearance of the app to their car. We stripped out and re-built a ton of code, even tweaking some of it for extra accuracy with a couple of clever algorithms originally designed by the US military, to guide missiles down chimneys. Sounds a bit crazy, but it all helps makes this the slickest release yet, says Harney.

Dub Magazine say, “Nissans engineers built in a complex, multi-function monitoring computer in the GT-R that tracks g-forces, speed, weight transfer, air temperature and more. Well you dont have to spend $ 100 grand to get some cool readouts when you throw your car into a hard corner!”

Zilla 2.0 costs $ 2.99, and is available worldwide from the iPhone App Store or by visiting http://www.ZillaApp.com.

New York Civil Rights Violation Lawyer from The Perecman Firm Condemns Hate Crimes in Brooklyn

New York, New York (PRWEB) December 01, 2011

An attack in a Jewish neighborhood of Brooklyn is being investigated as a New York hate crime by the New York Police Department’s Hate Crimes Task Force, reported NY1 on November 12.

Vandals set three cars ablaze in Midwood on November 11. A sidewalk and park benches nearby also were spray-painted with anti-Semitic graffiti, including Nazi swastikas. “KKK” was painted on a van, according to the New York Daily News. (11/11)

Anti-Semitism has no place in todays world. Hate crimes are incompatible with the values of New York and the values of America, said New York civil rights violation lawyer David Perecman, founder of The Perecman Firm, one of New Yorks civil rights violation law firms.

The incident is among a number of other recent hate crimes in New York City targeting Jews. Two other swastikas were found in Brooklyn, reported the New York Daily News. One was etched into the lobby door of a building and another was painted on a parking meter. Also, reported the NYDN, a subway sign was defaced and a Jewish man recalled being threatened by two hate-spewing men in Midwood.

Earlier this month, six swastikas were painted on a synagogue and two library branches in Queens, reported the Queens Tribune. (11/10)

Recently, the Anti-Defamation League released a report of anti-Semitism statistics for New York City and New York State. In 2010, the ADL counted 133 anti-Semitic incidents citywide. This was one more recorded incident than the year before.

In New York City, the most anti-Semitic incidents were reported in Brooklyn, which had 53. Manhattan was next with 52, according to the ADL.

Hate crimes are absolutely unacceptable, said Perecman, a New York civil rights???????? violation lawyer for over 30 years. No one should have to fear for their safety in New York because of their religion, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, or age.

Travel Insured Offers 2011 Winter Ski Tips: Think Safety First and Add Sports Upgrade to Cover Racing Activities and Ski Equipment Delays

East Hartford, CT (PRWEB) December 01, 2011

Last season brought renewed enthusiasm for ski travel thanks to a long season of natural snow after record snowfalls created a winter sports bonus. The onset of the 2011 year-end holiday season, combined with unusual pre-Thanksgiving storms in the Northeast, has inspired many winter sports fans to make plans soon to pick up their downhill momentum where they left off after last spring’s final runs. Travel Insured International?, a travel insurance leader in providing coverage for skiers since 1994, urges skiers to think safety first this winter season and to learn the terms and conditions of what may or may not be covered on their ski trips when they hit the slopes.

Think Ski Safety First to Prevent Injury, Save Money

Wear a helmet to reduce chance of injury: The National Ski Areas Association (NSAA) says 57 percent of skiers and snowboarders wore helmets in the 2009-2010 season compared to 25 percent in 2002-2003. NSAA estimates helmets reduce minor head injuries by 30 to 50 percent, but will not prevent major injuries often due to reckless ski behavior. You still need to ski sensibly when wearing a helmet! Check state laws mandating child and teen ski helmets. New Jersey has a new mandatory child and youth helmet law, effective Nov. 1, 2011, requiring children and teens age 17 and under to wear ski helmets. California has introduced, but not yet passed, a similar measure. Check the state where you ski to learn any child and teen ski safety regulations. Ski off trail or back country at your own risk. Most travel insurance plans do not include coverage if you are injured or worse during extreme skiing. Remember that many ski area Search and Rescue (SAR) organizations require off-trail skiers to reimburse costs when they must be rescued due to extreme skiing, an uninsured service that can cost in the thousands of dollars. Ski with a buddy. Have a meeting point and carry a mobile phone in case you are separated or lost. Ski goggles are highly advisable for maintaining visibility, especially in white fog conditions. Basic travel insurance may not cover you when you join a ski race or other winter sports speed event. Travel Insured International? offers its Sports Coverage option to cover these activities. When you check your ski gear to fly and the airline misdirects the bag, you may be forced to rent skis in order to ski before it belatedly arrives. Travel Insured’s Sports Coverage option can reimburse this rental. If your own arrival at the ski area is delayed due to a common carrier, including for weather, for a minimum number of hours specified in your coverage plan you can be reimbursed for prepaid, unused ski accommodations. With the Sports Coverage option you can also be reimbursed for prepaid, unused ski passes when they are non-refundable.

Snow Storms Are Only Great When You’ve Already Arrived

When your destination is ski country, remember that everyone will be partying and celebrating in the ski village when the big snow storm arrives to pile fresh powder onto your downhill slopes. However, if you are en route from home to the ski destination, a travel time when many overwinter storms occur, you may miss not only tonight’s party but tomorrow’s great skiing on newly covered trails as well. When weather prevents your arrival in ski country on schedule, only travel insurance will ease the pain of potentially losing the opening day or more of your holidaying by reimbursed your added expenses that may go with that loss. Travel Insured International urges you to remember safety first so that your great winter holiday can lead to many more, maybe even this season!

About Travel Insured International?

Hartford, CT, was founded in 1994 by the foresight of insurance industry executive Peter Gehris when he acquired the travel protection division of the Travelers Insurance Company.
